Bankersalmanac.com’s Institution
Search allows you to find data on financial institutions using any combination
of the following criteria:
- Institution Name – enter the
name in the Institution Name field. Do not include accents, or non-alpha-numeric characters such as / , .
You can use
a wildcard (*) at the end of any word, e.g. Bank* to find institutions with
the word Bank and Banking in their names.
- City/Town - enter the English-language
name of the city or town in the City/Town field e.g. Turin for Turino, Vienna
for Wien. Do not include accents but you can use a wildcard (*) at the end
of any word, e.g. San* Antonio to find San Antonio and Santo Antonio.
- Country - click in the Country field
to bring up the country index or type in the first letter of a country to
go directly to that part of the index. Click on the country to select it.
The short country name is used in the country index - USA for United States
of America, Armenia for the Republic of Armenia etc. Several countries and
island groups are also indexed by state with the country index including Australia,
Fiji, South Africa, USA, Canada and Indonesia.
- SWIFT/BIC code – enter the full
or abbreviated code into the SWIFT/BIC field.
- Clearing Code – enter the full
clearing or national bank code in the Clearing Code field. If you do not know
the full code enter a wildcard (*) at the end of the code to see all possible
matches.
You can also determine what kind of institutions are returned in your results
lists using:
- Head Offices only – select the
Head Offices Only checkbox to ensure that branches of institutions are excluded
from your search results.
- Institution Type - selecting Banks
Only will narrow your results down by excluding all other financial institutions.
- Institution Status - selecting Live
Institutions Only using the Status button will narrow your results down by
excluding all historic institutions.
Once you have entered the criteria click on Search and you will be taken to
the Institution Search Results page where you will see a list of institutions
matching your chosen criteria.
A symbol to the left of each institution's name indicates whether the match
is for a Bank Head Office, a Bank Branch Office or an Other Institution. To
see the full details for any of the institutions matching your search criteria,
click on its name.
